Carer poverty
Project

Working on the Carers Poverty Project with Medway Foodbank (Trussell) was incredibly close to my heart. Having been a carer for my dad myself, I understand firsthand how isolating, exhausting and unseen caring can be, especially when it’s combined with financial pressure that leaves you in poverty. This project wasn’t just about design. It was about giving carers a voice.

It was based on carers constantly saying to others "I'm just his mum", or "I'm just his son" etc. and not recognising that that are deserving of help and support even if they are someone's loved one.

I supported the project through thoughtful, purposeful design that helped communicate the reality of carers’ experiences clearly and respectfully. From campaign visuals to public facing materials, every element was created to raise awareness, spark conversation and help the get the message out.

Seeing the campaign grow into large scale visibility, including billboard and bus advertising, was deeply meaningful. After the campaign got a buzz and ended up on the news we have been invited in June to go to parliament to talk to Mp's about the campaign. A reminder of the power design has to drive change when it’s rooted in lived experience.
